Giddens Gallery Showcases Renowned Texas Artist Christian Sly and Custom Fine Art Commissions
The right piece of original art changes the entire energy of a room. It turns a quiet foyer into a grand statement, gives a luxury living room an undeniable focal point, and serves as an immediate conversation starter for everyone who walks through the door.
That transformative power is exactly what makes Giddens Gallery of Fine Art in Grapevine, Texas, such a vital destination for homeowners, interior designers, and serious collectors alike. Curating exceptional work from local Texas talent, the gallery connects buyers with authentic, one-of-a-kind pieces that bring warmth, texture, and soul into everyday living spaces.
In a recent segment for Home and Lifestyle TV, airing on CBS - host Tiffany Hendra joined Giddens Gallery owner Michele Wilson to unveil a newly installed centerpiece by world-renowned Texas artist Christian Sly—and to celebrate an inspiring story four decades in the making.
Inside the Masterpiece: "Positano Celebration"
Taking center stage at the gallery is Christian Sly’s newest large-scale impressionist oil on canvas, titled "Positano Celebration." Designed to transport viewers straight to the sun-drenched cliffs of the Italian coast, the painting is a masterclass in light, texture, and dimensional storytelling.
What makes "Positano Celebration" so captivating in person is the extraordinary depth of its mixed-media craftsmanship, which required approximately 140 hours for Christian to complete:
Intentional Light and Shadow: A portion of the canvas is left purposefully unfinished—a bold artistic choice that creates the natural visual illusion of a warm evening shadow cast as the sun sets over the coastal hillside.
Embedded Italian Elements: Woven seamlessly into the rich oil brushwork are authentic pieces of textured Italian handmade paper and radiant accents of genuine gold leafing.
Visual Melody: Look closely at the upper sections of the canvas and you will discover delicate, embedded sheet music featuring actual Italian musical notes, adding a rhythmic, cultural layer to the visual composition.
A 40-Year Full-Circle Moment on Main Street
Beyond the technical brilliance on the canvas, Christian Sly’s presence at Giddens Gallery carries deep personal and local history. For more than 30 years, Christian’s artwork has been sought after and collected by celebrities, prominent sports figures, and corporate CEOs across the country.
Yet, his artistic roots are planted right here in North Texas. As Michele Wilson shared during the broadcast, Christian actually held his very first gallery exhibition right on Main Street in Grapevine 40 years ago. Returning four decades later as an internationally collected fine artist to exhibit with Michele on that very same historic street is a remarkable full-circle milestone.
